Sharing Personal Information
We share your Personal Information with service providers who help us deliver our services and fulfil our contracts with you, as described above. For example:
- Our online store runs on Shopify. You can learn more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
- We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information, or otherwise to protect our rights.
Behavioural Advertising
As explained above, we use your Personal Information to show you targeted ads or marketing messages that we think may interest you. For example:
- We use Google Analytics to understand how customers use the Site. You can read how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can also opt out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- We share information about your use of the Site, your purchases and your interactions with our ads on other websites with our advertising partners. Some of this information is collected and shared directly with those partners, and in some cases through cookies or similar technologies (which, depending on where you live, you may be asked to consent to).
To learn more about how targeted advertising works, see the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page: https://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.
You can opt out of targeted advertising through:
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
- Google: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/anonymous

You can also opt out of some of these services through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal: https://optout.aboutads.info/.
Using Personal Information
We use your Personal Information to provide our services to you. This includes offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfilling your order, and keeping you informed about new products, services and offers.
Lawful basis
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), if you live in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), we process your personal information on the following lawful bases:
- your consent;
- the performance of the contract between you and the Site;
- compliance with our legal obligations;
- protection of your vital interests;
- performance of a task carried out in the public interest;
- our legitimate interests, where they do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.
Retention
When you place an order through the Site, we keep your Personal Information in our records unless and until you ask us to delete it. See “Your rights” below for more on your right to erasure.
Automatic decision-making
If you live in the EEA, you have the right to object to processing based solely on automated decision-making (including profiling) when that decision has a legal effect on you or otherwise significantly affects you.
We DO NOT use customer data for fully automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect.
Our processor, Shopify, uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud, which does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you. Services that involve elements of automated decision-making include:
- a temporary blacklist of IP addresses linked to repeated failed transactions, which lasts for a small number of hours;
- a temporary blacklist of credit cards linked to blacklisted IP addresses, which lasts for a small number of days.

If you live in the EEA, you have the right to access the Personal Information we hold about you, to transfer it to a new service, and to ask for it to be corrected, updated or erased. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@gowcommerce.com.
Your Personal Information is first processed in Ireland and is then transferred outside Europe for storage and further processing, including to Canada and the United States. For details on how these transfers comply with the GDPR, see Shopify’s GDPR Whitepaper: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/privacy/GDPR.

How long a cookie stays on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or a “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing, while persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and expire between 30 minutes and two years after being downloaded to your device.
There are several ways to control and manage cookies. Keep in mind that removing or blocking cookies may harm your experience, and some parts of our website may no longer be fully available.
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can decide whether to accept them through your browser controls, usually found in the “Tools” or “Preferences” menu. To learn how to change your browser settings or how to block, manage or filter cookies, check your browser’s help file or visit sites such as www.allaboutcookies.org.
Please also note that blocking cookies may not fully stop how we share information with third parties such as our advertising partners. To exercise your rights or opt out of certain uses of your information by these parties, follow the instructions in the “Behavioural Advertising” section above.
Do Not Track
Because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to “Do Not Track” signals, we do not change our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
Complaints
As mentioned above, if you wish to make a complaint, please email us at contact@gowcommerce.com.
If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your complaint, you have the right to lodge it with the relevant data protection authority, such as your local data protection authority.
